Professional Learning Approaches:
When beginning the journey as a National Board Professional Learning Pilot School, many educators wonder where to begin. There are three common avenues schools/districts take when entering into Pilot School work: the Five Core Propositions, professional practices, and supporting candidacy. As you consider which avenue to take, you may want to ask yourself, "Where do I want to push?" One way to think about this is your sphere of influence. If you are hoping to work at a systems level with a whole faculty, start with Tier 1. If you are hoping to push on professional practice for groups of teachers, start with Tier 2. If your sphere of influence is more at the individual level, start with Tier 3. If you have the resources to push from multiple fronts, you can work in more than one tier.
